Mount Wise Urban Park

Mount Wise Urban Park

Mount Wise Urban Park is a little gem hidden away amongst the urban sprawl of some of the more "gritty" areas of Plymouth. It boasts possibly the best 360 views of and around the city from the observation platform on the top of the hill. With views over Plymouth Hoe and the Sound, the historic Royal William Yard, Mount Edgecombe across the river Tamar in neighboring Cornwall, the open are swimming pools and the infamous Navy Base or "Dockyard" (to be said with a heavy Plymouth twang !) there is simply no better place to start an urban safari on a summers day. See the warships and submarines pass by literally a stones throw away as you enjoy soaking the Devon sunshine whilst relaxing or taking a dip in the lido next to the river. For more photos of the area see my "plymouth" sets on flickr.com User name "plymography"
